About comments

This article explains how the comments system is setup on this site.

Comments have been enabled for news stories, but only registered web users and manager users can post them.

Moderation

Comments are NOT moderated. They will be published instantly as long as they make it through the filters in place.

Bad Words

A list of bad words is maintained in the manager. When a comment is posted, if it contains any of the bad words, it will not be published. It will be added to a moderation queue instead. A manager user can then either delete the comment, remove the bad word and publish the article, or, in case of false positives, publish the comment without editing.

Notifications

Whenever a comment is posted, the original author of the article will receive a notification by email. This occurs whether the comment made it through the filter system or not

Testing without bad words. As moderation is not in place, this should go live immediately.
When a bad word is found, the comment is added to a moderation queue.
